Got this spiffy Semiautomatic for Christmas (TAURUS TX-22c), chambered in .22LR. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Added a HOLOSUN HS507C reflex optic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

FINALLY <\/strong>took this toy out to an indoor range on February 19th. SIX WEEKS? Who would have believed me to be that patient?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The groups were pretty tight considering it was bulk ammo. I had not used a reflex optic in almost 20 years–it took some retraining when going from low ready to firing. (Yes, I drew the weapon along my chest and then extended.) But, after a few iterations, I was bringing the reticle up at perfect eye-lignment (bad pun) and sighting as I extended.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I noted the need to adjust zero a smidge left. I was checking for drift and precision. No drift. Acceptable precision considering the bulk ammo <\/em>classification.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I got permission to rapid fire with magazine swaps. I load 15 rounds into each 16-round magazine because I don’t do math in base16. It took about 3 minutes to go through 60 rounds–3 swaps along with low ready to action. It is truly amazing how fast you can go through 60 rounds and keep this sort of accuracy and precision. It is the equipment, not the shooter. Believe me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I kept thinking how expensive this would be with a 9mm, 10mm, or .40 caliber; almost fainted when thinking about shooting that many .308 or 6.5 Creed in less than 5 minutes, even with 10-round magazines…<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is why we shoot .22LR for fun<\/strong> and regularly practice with our 9mm. It is also why some of us have CO2 pistols and use pellets and BBs, which is even less expensive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But, you ask: WHAT ABOUT A REAL WEAPON INSTEAD OF A TOY?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

For those in the audience who consider themselves snottily elite, I did more than a few rounds with my Springfield Hellcat Tritium Sight 9mm EDC. Once again, this was low ready to action\/fire with magazine swaps.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I hadn’t shot my EDC 9mm since (maybe) November and figured it was past due. (This wasn’t to appease the elitists in the crowd). It took a few rounds to get used to the irons sights and the micro-sized form factor, but things turned out ok. I figure this is acceptable considering the lack of practice. You expect accuracy and precision to suffer. Especially with the difference in kick. Overall, not bad considering this is a 2″ barrel.<\/p>\n\n\n
