SCR Range

August 18, 2023

It was 105 with a heat index >115 when I was at the range. R-L breeze. Sweat was pouring into my eyes and I was dehydrating. Still, even though my worst shots were just over 1 moa, it was my responsibility to do better. Not making excuses—just accepting responsibility and indicating I shall do better next trip.

  • Creed: 10 shots. 6 on paper. 2 on steel targets. 2 into lunchable packaging. I had issues with the Creed and the Caldwell Rock BR. They don’t fit together—the magazine hits the leveling adjustment screws. I need to figure out something. Probably calling Caldwell tech support for suggestions. Also, I failed to check zero on my turret for the first shot—I was set 8 clicks off from my last outing. I misread and over adjusted (right) for the second shot. Silly me, yes? The 3” high shot was due to flinching when a dragonfly appeared in my scope as I was squeezing, I ducked to avoid the monster.
  • .308: 10 shots. 8 on paper. 2 into lunchable packaging. The two groups in the center (dead center & edge of red) were fantastic. I pooched a few but was 1.2” off at worst.
